If you have any questions please email us, our staff are lovers of our silk and know it inside out, so if you needs tips on care, etc. please do not hesitate to contact us. Silk has long been regarded as the ultimate luxurious cloth for over 4000 years, from its humble discovery in the palace gardens of China, its trading route on the amazing Silk Road, to its place in society today, it has remained a naturally beautiful fabric.
Our raw silk is sourced from the most abundant pesticide-free mulberry plantation in the east of China, it is cleaned in pure underground water and stretched by hand to make large sheets of silk. The processes used have been handed down to us from generations of silk makers from the cultural home of silk making.
Benefits of sleeping in our silk include;
Temperature control: Silk has a natural ability to regulate body temperature due to its unique protein structure, which allows the silk to ‘breath’ and creates a ‘warm in winter, cool in summer’ effect.
Naturally inflammable: Silk is naturally flame retardant, as it will cease to burn once a flame is removed, making it an excellent choice for bed linen especially for children.
When sleeping in our silk linen for the first time you will experience the smooth, coolness of the silk, which overtime and depending on how often the linen is laundered, will subtly change to an amazingly soft suede-like touch, making the linen blissfully soft to sleep in. Being a natural product its properties remain unchanged, enhancing your sleep with many benefits.
Allergy relief: Silk naturally repels dust mites due to its structure, making it a welcome environment for most allergy sufferers. Those with skin irritations such as eczema have reported relief and, due to the ease of movement during sleep, those with arthritis are enjoying the benefits also.
Amino acids and Sericin Production: Silk is made up of a protein called Sericin and various amino acids, which are very similar to the structure of our skin. Silk can help our skin and hair to stay soft and smooth and also eliminate those morning creases, however we can't guarantee that they stay away forever!

At Silkyard, we believe in providing our customers with the highest quality goods whilst taking care of our environment whenever possible. Mulberry silk has become part of our lives and we allow the silk to shine, so to speak, by keeping our designs simple and understated.
Our on-line store enables us to provide luxury and value to our growing customer base as more people from the very young to the very old are enjoying the benefits of the unique sleeping experience that is pure mulberry silk.
For thousands of years silk sheets have been thought of as a luxurious purchase, while this is still true, more and more people are viewing the benefits as a worthwhile investment. We are all looking to steer away from the harsh chemicals that can be found in many bedding materials, especially as we spend a good proportion of our lives in bed, it is no wonder that silk is becoming a more attractive option for us. The "handwash" programme on our washing machines is making regular washing of the silk so much easier and for that we are very grateful!
